A soft butter cake built on a single egg and a fresh orange. Mixed quickly and baked into a tender crumb sweetened with a lightly sugared butter topping.

Ingredients

  • 1egg
  • 100 gsugar
  • 30 gbutter
  • 120 mlmilk
  • 180 gflour
  • 10 gbaking powder
  • vanilla

    to taste

  • 1orange

    or 2 mandarins

  • 30 gbutter

    melted, for top

  • 1½ tbspsugar

    for top

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg with sugar and softened butter.

  2. Stir in milk, flour, baking powder and vanilla to a smooth batter.

  3. Grease a 20 cm baking form and pour in the batter; top with sliced orange or mandarin segments.

  4. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.

  5. Bake at 180 °C for 30- until golden.
